Tonight's debates are what I call "blah, blah, blah". We've heard them all. The same lines. These are the candidates stump speeches. If you needed to hear them to decide who you were voting for, it's sad. Very sad. Particularly as my future may depend on someone that can't make up their mind. And, no, I'm not talking about Senator Kerry. I'm talking about you, the alleged un-decided voter.
A hint to you, you have already made up your mind, you just won't admit it to yourself. If you have figured out what each candidates policy, plans, bullshit means, you are either fooling yourself or have been living in a tree in South America for the last four years. Maybe longer. Go to the inner sanctum for more on the blah, blah, blah of debate and what you need to know as undecided voters.
Some historical reference: we were attacked by 19 men in four Boeing 747s on 9/11. They were Arab men. Extremist Muslims. Their leader is/was Osama Bin Laden. We got rid of the Taliban in Afghanistan in October of 2001. We deposed Saddam, the Butcher of Baghdad, in 2003. We are fighting the same group of extremist Muslims in Iraq right now while we stave off power grabs from old Saddam Ba'athi party members, Shi'a fighting on behalf of the Iranian Mullahs and a shi'ite theocracy and some criminals that are looking for a quick buck however they can make it.
The economy was going in the shitter as of 1999 and totally went into the shitter thanks to the 19 men who felled the World Trade Center and it's finance group. We were able to pull it out of the shitter and wipe it off some in the last three years, but we have some ways to go. The UN Oil For Food program was a bribery and extortion program. Member states of the security council of the UN participating in the Oil For Food program and receiving ill gotten gains blocked additional resolutions or requests to authorize UN force against the Butcher of Baghdad due to either greed or fear or stupidity or all three. Terrorists of the extreme Islamic sort have attacked countries all over the world, kidnapped and beheaded citizens, learned to use the internet and media as an effective tool while we sit dumbfounded.
The education system is being reformed. The NEA doesn't like it because they will no longer hold the power to determine excellence. They will actually have to teach the students how to read and write and do math (novel idea, don't you think?). Healthcare in the United States has never been better, never cost so much and some folks in government think we should have nationalized healthcare so we can insure the mediocrity of our healthcare system to match the world. Lord knows the last time French or British healthcare developed a new life saving procedure or drug.
Taxes were reduced for everyone, but that included the corporations, which in no small part kept the economy, formerly noted as being in the shitter and being pulled out, from drowning in the shit created by a busted market and attacks on financial institutes.
The UN has declared the war in Iraq "illegal" as they quibble over what constitutes 'genocide' in Sudan and 50k people are massacred for either their ethnicity or their faith (do you recall Rwanda: hit "replay") and we do nothing. Because they are black? Because they have no economic value like Iraq or Iran? Because they do and these same greedy countries that played with Iraq's Oil For Food Program have oil companies and investments in Sudan that might be effected if they interfere?
In case you haven't noticed, there has been a serious decline in morality across the nation and the world while you were hiding in your tree. Our grandfathers buried in Normandy, Italy, Africa and tiny islands across the Pacific are rolling in their graves. Or maybe morality isn't an issue for you if you've been living in the trees?
Lastly, in case you haven't noticed, the Democrat party has raised the evil specter of racial and ethnic discrimination by insisting that these minorities were disenfranchised in the last election. Let's not forget stolen elections. They are preparing already to declare the election fraudulent in an attempt at a bloodless coup. What, you don't think so? What else do you call it when one body acts like a third world criminal political party and attempts to overthrow lawful elections in order to install their candidate? Besides, I'm not making it up. That is the letter that has been sent to Democrat members around the country and you can see on their own website.
Oh, yeah..You've been living in a tree for the last 20 years. Well, you'll just have to get up to speed a little quicker.
I suggest we look at the current debate so you can here the repeat, wash, rinse, spin, repeat of the candidates stump speech:
First question to Kerry:
Senator, I want to set the stage for this discussion by asking the question that I think hangs over all of our politics today and is probably on the minds of many people watching this debate tonight.
And that is, will our children and grandchildren ever live in a world as safe and secure as the world in which we grew up?
yada, yada, yada...I believe that this president, regrettably, rushed us into a war, made decisions about foreign policy, pushed alliances away. And, as a result, America is now bearing this extraordinary burden where we are not as safe as we ought to be.
What? You haven't heard that 20 times? What do you believe?
(...)And there are a host of options that this president had available to him, like making sure that at all our ports in America containers are inspected. Only 95 percent of them -- 95 percent come in today uninspected.(...)
People who fly on airplanes today, the cargo hold is not X-rayed, but the baggage is
Ok, since you've been hanging with the natives and sleeping in trees, let me break that down for you. These are essentially truths. Except for the "cargo hold not x-rayed". That is true but not true. The cargo hold is not x-rayed but all the packages and baggage that goes into the cargo hold, are x-rayed. Not sure why he thinks we need to x-ray the cargo hold if everything else is x-rayed, but there you go.
How do I know? I fly in my everyday job. A lot. Read my blog. You'll find out. He's just trying to scare you sometimes flyers into worrying if you will be blown out of the sky on your once every decade flight to see Grandma.
That's not good enough. Firehouses don't have enough firefighters in them
Cuz'...Did I mention that we were attacked on 9/11? I know I forgot to tell you the part where 3000 people were killed and it including 346 Firemen and emergency personnel? Or the number of firefighters that are off now serving their country as part of the military? How about I remind you that, while the federal government provides subsidies, it is actually you, me and the state and city that you live in that is responsible for raising taxes and providing fire services? Or...If you are living in some places I lived in, the fire department is completely volunteer with the exception of the chief and the captains. Also, there are no proven numbers that we somehow are missing firemen for some reason related to the President.
You see, this is another scare tactic. Hey, did I tell you that they are claiming the Republicans are using fear mongering to push their campaign? We'll get to that, but it's pretty damn clear they want you to believe that we are so short on firemen that your house is likely to burn down. Oh, yeah. I forgot. You've been living in a tree. Well, then they want you to believe that your tree will burn down because there are not enough firemen.
Scary, huh?
Police officers are being cut from the streets of America because the president decided to cut the COPS program.
Um...Can you say "scare tactic" again? I don't know...Has crime gone up in your neighborhood or city? Well yeah, I was just looking at my cities crime statistics and they have gone up. At least certain ones. Aggravated Assault and Non-aggravated assault and larceny and Grand theft auto. Homicides are the same and rape and robbery and burglary (robbed you, a bank or person; burglarized a home or business while no one was there) are down. Hmmm...What does that mean? Violent crime goes down but a bunch of people are trying to make a quick buck. Maybe the decrease in violent crime but the increase in larceny and grand theft auto are related to the recession and increase in poverty? We'll discuss that on another post.
Now for the repeat, wash, rinse, spin and repeat:
So we can do a better job of homeland security. I can do a better job of waging a smarter, more effective war on terror and guarantee that we will go after the terrorists.
I will hunt them down, and we'll kill them, we'll capture them. We'll do whatever is necessary to be safe.
Actually, I have to tell you...Kerry's insistence that he will "hunt them down and kill them" rings a "beware of braggart overkill" bell with me. I think he must have done one of those focus groups and tested the phrase out on some people "we'll kill them" must have rated stronger than the President's "wanted dead or alive; or bring them to justice" speech.
Can you actually picture Kerry killing anyone? Well, yes, but it's not terrorists and he wouldn't need a weapon. Just his droning, droning voice as he plays Perry Maison and bores you to death without actually having said how he was going to do it. I mean, did you hear him say how he was going to do it? Get our Allies to participate. Uh...Another history lesson for you, we already have 30 countries, including Britain and Australia. He is talking about the French and Germans? Meet any of those while you were living in your tree? Remember: Oil For Food scandal; French block the vote, Germans follow, they all had a piece of Saddam's oil pie and his money in their accounts.
Now he will invoke the long dead presidents that he wishes he could emulate:
"But I pledge this to you, America: I will do it in the way that Franklin Roosevelt
History lesson: Roosevelt is dead. He had a Churchill to work with who is probably rolling in his grave over the lack of moral fortitude in his fellow British. The French were already over run, the Italians were with the Nazis, and he had to give Stalin and the USSR half of Europe to get them to buy in. Fortunately, the Aussies were with us then and now, although Sen. Kerry stupid sister tricks going down to support a losing candidate probably didn't endear him any to the current Aussie PM, re-elected Mr. Howard. Is that your plan? Let some of the allies get overrun, bargain with a murderous dictator and pray for your Jacque to turn into Churchill? I think you will have a long wait. Maybe you will sell Iraq to Iran if the Mullahs will just give up their nuclear ambitions or maybe hand over some of the Al Qaida "guests" they've been harboring?
Which Roosevelt program are you going to follow, Senator? The one that says the Japanese and the German's were a threat or the one that makes deals based on advice from a communist sympathizer planted in the State Department?
and Ronald Reagan
Holy shit! I can't believe the balls this guy has. Reagan must be rolling over in his grave. Er..Sorry, another history lesson, the allies that Kerry keeps talking about? They hated Ronnie in the 80's. Swore that he was going to cause a nuclear holocaust between us and the USSR. Demonstrations in the street. Remember that? Were you around in the 80's? Did your tree not get MTV or ABC or BBC? The European protestors with "No Nukes" signs were trying to assault military bases and nuclear installations in Europe. The German government was with us, but France had banned any but their own. And Kerry on Reagan:
In 1984 campaign literature: We are continuing a defense buildup that is consuming our resources with weapons systems that we dont need and cant use.
The Reagan Administration has no rational plan for our military. Instead, it acts on misinformed assumptions about the strength of the Soviet military and a presumed window of vulnerability, which we now know not to exist.
And Congress, rather than having the moral courage to challenge the Reagan Administration, has given Ronald Reagan almost every military request he has made, no matter how wasteful, no matter how useless, no matter how dangerous.
The biggest defense buildup since World War II has not given us a better defense. Americans feel more threatened by the prospect of war, not less so. And our national priorities become more and more distorted as the share of our countrys resources devoted to human needs diminishes.
Holy carumba! Does this sound familiar? I mean, does this guy ever have anything NEW to say? Cut "Reagan" and add "Bush" and you have his entire freaking stump speech. Or this one..Cut out Libya and replace with Iraq:
When Libyan terrorists bombed a Berlin, Germany, disco frequented by American GIs, Reagan ordered a retaliatory air strike in 1986 that reportedly came close to taking out Libyas President Moammar Gadhafi. But to Kerrys way of thinking, the Berlin attack that killed one U.S. soldier and wounded 51 did not merit a military response.
While I stated that my initial inclination was to support the President, Kerry wrote in a letter, I pointed out that two essential tests had to be met in determining whether or not the U.S. action was appropriate. First, the United States had to have irrefutable evidence directly linking the Gadhafi regime to a terrorist act and, second, our response should be proportional to that act.
Admitting that the evidence tying Tripoli to the disco bombing was irrefutable, the U.S. had failed the proportionality test, Kerry argued:
It is obvious that our response was not proportional to the disco bombing and even violated the Administrations own guidelines to hit clearly defined terrorist targets, thereby minimizing the risk to innocent civilians. ...
There are numerous other actions we can take, in concert with our allies, to bring significant pressure to bear on countries supporting or harboring terrorists.
Are you still undecided?
If we dont need the MX [multiple warhead ICBM], the B-1, or these other weapons systems ... [t]heres no excuse for casting even one vote for unnecessary weapons of destruction, and as your Senator, I will never do so, Kerry vowed.,
"I will cancel the nuclear bunker buster program" Kerry. This is the real Kerry. Strong on defense? Are you crazy or just purposefully delusional? Maybe you think China and North Korea and Iran are just going to give up their nukes cause we did? Or Pakistan or India...Psssstttt...They ain't going to do it and no hair brained "good example" is going to make them do it. Get out of the trees and start listening.
In February 1984, Mr. Kerry expressed his concern that Mr. Reagan "has mortgaged our future in order to pay for a bloated military budget." Again, in May 1984, Mr. Kerry said, "The defense expenditures of the Reagan administration are without any relevancy to the threat this nation is currently facing."
Again, wash, rinse, spin, repeat. How about that "mortgaged our future" to pay for military expenditures now? I guess this guy is consistent after all.
Want some more about what he really thought about Reagan? Go here Weekly Standard
Or how about this lovely quote:
At the 1988 Democratic convention, he characterized the Reagan presidency as a time of "moral darkness."
Obviously, Mr. Kerry can try to confuse some of the younger voters who were not old enough to even remember the Reagan years and don't have a clue that Kerry was not only anti-war, anti-nuclear but definitely anti-Reagan. And now he has the balls to call upon Reagan's name to support his candidacy? Is that your plan for us? For you to create your own four years of "moral darkness"? That's what it would be, too. The four years that we lost all sense of morality. Negotiate with terrorist states. Provide them with nuclear material. Withdraw our troops and let Iraq sink under it's own torturous weight. Yeah...can't wait for those four years of "moral darkness".
Well, let's finish up that quote from tonight's debate as he calls on the late Democrat President John Kennedy (who he wishes he was but couldn't even wipe his dog's ass if he'd had the chance)
and John Kennedy and others did
Is that the John Kennedy that told Kruschev to stick it up his ass? Or the one that left the Cubans on the Bay of Pigs to be slaughtered? Or the one that signed orders for more "training" personnel to go to Vietnam which Kerry later protested? Which JFK is he invoking? One thing's for sure, Kerry lacks the charisma of Bubba and Kennedy, so Kerry won't be getting any nookie on the side.
Now President Bush responds, actually sounding like John Kennedy:
Yes, we can be safe and secure, if we stay on the offense against the terrorists and if we spread freedom and liberty around the world.
John Kennedy on Freedom:
We stand for freedom. That is our conviction for ourselves; that is our only commitment to others.
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. (Inaugural address, 1961)
A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality.
A nation which has forgotten the quality of courage which in the past has been brought to public life is not as likely to insist upon or regard that quality in its chosen leaders today - and in fact we have forgotten.
I hear it said that West Berlin is militarily untenable - and so was Bastogne, and so, in fact, was Stalingrad. Any danger spot is tenable if men - brave men - will make it so.
In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
The best road to progress is freedom's road.
The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.
The freedom of the city is not negotiable. We cannot negotiate with those who say, "What's mine is mine and what's yours is negotiable."
We are not against any man-or any nation-or any system-except as it is hostile to freedom.
We would like to live as we once lived, but history will not permit it.
To quote another quotable, you Senator are no John Kennedy. But I know somebody who sounds a whole lot like him.
Let us continue, Senator Kerry responds:
KERRY: Yes. When the president had an opportunity to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, he took his focus off of them, outsourced the job to Afghan warlords, and Osama bin Laden escaped.
Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where is Osama bin Laden?" He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."
We need a president who stays deadly focused on the real war on terror.
First, let me quote the real JFK again:
The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.
News flash for the undecideds, you should look up the CENCOM and DOD information on fighting in Afghanistan. You might not be familiar with the terrain, but it is a mountainous country. The alleged sighting of Osama bin Laden took place in Tora Bora. A mountain stronghold. Tanks and 10,000 troops just don't march out of no where, up 3000 ft, through snipers and ambushes, in secret. That is how the Russians were defeated. They had such large forces that they couldn't maneuver quickly and without getting handily hammered by the Mujihadeen hiding in the mountains and caves.
Second point, our main troops were no where near Tora Bora (for the reasons stated) when the punch came down. Not because we didn't have enough, but because we were using the special forces that Sen. Kerry is so fond of. The Northern Alliance and special forces guys were the ones that were there. They called in air strikes that surely killed enough Mujihadeen to satisfy Mr. Kerry. It would have taken days and to get to the top of Tora Bora and the bad guys would still be gone.
Another quote:
Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.
BUSH: Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations. Of course we're worried about Osama bin Laden. We're on the hunt after Osama bin Laden. We're using every asset at our disposal to get Osama bin Laden.
One other point, if you think that Osama bin Laden is our only enemy, you should go back and live in your trees. It'll be safer for the rest of us. To date, we've eliminated 3/4 of his leadership skills and we haven't seen a tape or heard the voice of OBL in over a year. The only person you now see is his once side kick, Zawahiri. What do you think happened to him? Also, please note that all sorts of little Islamist terrorist sites can be found on the web threatening America and her allies. Osama is not our only threat. Believing that would be truly taking your eye off the ball.
The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.

Bravo! Excellent post.
Thanks Pat...nothing like a head of steam to make you post some good stuff.
John F. Kerry holds no candle to John F. Kennedy, even in his best moments or Kennedy's worst.
Funny you should mention Kennedy. I just find it interesting that in 41 years, the Democrats have gone from "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" -to- expecting the government to care for their every need from the cradle to the grave.
