Freedom Team Salute

One Soldier proudly flew his favorite football team's flag while stationed in Iraq, and his loyalty to the Chiefs was well-deserved. His team was also his employer, and the Chiefs founder, Lamar Hunt, ensured that the National Guard Soldier's job was waiting for him upon his return.

In recognition of Hunt's support to Sgt. 1st Class Jim Lumpkin and other Soldiers, the Army recognized him with a Freedom Team Salute Commendation before Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Hunt's private box at Arrowhead Stadium.

Lumpkin, a security officer for the team, nominated Hunt for the commendation. Presenting the commendation with Lumpkin were retired Col. Michael Neer, Freedom Team Salute ambassador, and Missouri State Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Gross.

Hoo-yah, Mr. Hunt. May the Chiefs kick butt next year.Leavenworth Lamp
