Paradoxes

I was reading this article from the AP concerning the continued bombings of Shi'ite in Iraq when I read the last paragraph quoting Mouwaffaq al-Rubaie:

Mouwaffaq al-Rubaie, the national security adviser for the interim government, accused the Jordanian-born al-Zarqawi and former Baath party members of trying to provoke a sectarian civil war. Shiites make up about 60 percent of Iraq's estimated 26 million people.

"It's a paradoxical idea when they claim that they are fighting the infidels and at the same time they kill Muslims during Friday prayers," he said.

I just find it paradoxical that anyone would find it paradoxical for fanatic Sunni/Salafi/Wahhabist to find Shi'ite Muslims as infidels. Seriously, the world needs to get a grip. These guys don't care who you are or what you are. If you aren't one of them, you are an infidel and just as worthy of murder whether Arab, Muslim, Christian, Jew, secularist, etc.

Why are people so surprised when they are being killed by someone when their neighbor has been shouting at them, "look out for these guys, they said they will kill you." Everyone always thinks, "Nahhhh! Not me!" Right up until the moment the knife slides in, the bullets rips through them or the bomb blows off pieces of their body.

Too bad that so many Sunni will stand by and watch it happen, too, thinking that they are safe because they are Sunni. Then one day they wake up to find even they are not Sunni/Salafi/Wahhabi enough for the killers and they have a surprised look on their faces as the knife slips in.
