Quick Notes in the last 24 hours

1) A great man died on June 5, 2004. Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America. A man who truly believed in the greatness of America. That it should always stand for freedom. That it should spread freedom and democracy around the world. That it should not lay down before dictators and tyrannical regimes, but stand up for what she believes in, the principles that have always seen American through the toughest time.

June 6, 1984.. Normandy, France,
We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.
June 6, 1984 ... Normandy, France,
The men of Normandy had faith that what they were doing was right, faith that they fought for all humanity, faith that a just God would grant them mercy on this beachhead or the next. It was the deep knowledge -- and pray God we have not lost it -- that there is a profound moral difference between the use of force for liberation and the use of force for conquest.

2) Al-Yawer is making the rounds. First to Germany where he plays a little 2 faced to get the German support:

He told Munich's Focus magazine he hoped that the United Nations would support "free, fair and transparent elections" as planned by January 31, 2005.

"The sooner the better," he said in the interview printed in German. "For decades Iraq was the play toy of various dictators. Now it should not be permitted to be the puppet of the great powers. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to bring the power back to the Iraqi people as soon as possible"

Don't get me wrong, I want them to get that ASAP, just sounded a little whiny playing to the German audience kind of thing. These folks are certainly political animals.

Nice.

3) While at the same time, interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi tells the UN that they will need to US and coalition forces there for some time and do not plan to ask them to leave.

Who's getting played?
